How to Get the Blue Tick: Instagram Verification in 2026
Two kinds of blue tick
Since Meta introduced paid subscriptions, there are effectively two badges: the subscription badge, which anyone can buy monthly with an ID check, and the original notability-based verification, granted to public figures, brands and media that Meta deems notable. The original badge doesn't expire with a subscription, carries more credibility, and is what most brands and creators actually want.
The notability requirements
- Authentic: a real person, registered business or entity.
- Unique: one account per person/business (language-specific exceptions exist).
- Complete: public profile, bio, profile photo and active posting history.
- Notable: a well-known, highly searched-for name — typically evidenced by press coverage in multiple independent news sources. Paid or promotional content doesn't count.
How to apply
Go to Settings → Account → Request verification, submit your legal name, a government ID, your category, and — critically — links to news articles about you. Weak applications get rejected in days; you can reapply 30 days later. Each rejected application without new evidence lowers your practical chances, so don't apply until your press profile is ready.
Why applications get rejected — and what actually works
The overwhelming majority of rejections come down to one thing: insufficient press coverage. The realistic path to the original badge is building genuine notability first — published news features in recognized outlets, a consistent public identity across platforms, and a clean account history. Our blue tick service manages exactly this pipeline: news placement, profile preparation and the application itself, handled end to end.
