Short answer
Open Account Status in Threads (Menu → Account Status) to see removed content and what can’t be recommended, and tap Ask for a review on the violation notice if you disagree; track it under Help → Support requests. Threads is tied to your Instagram account: deleting Instagram deletes your Threads profile, while deactivating or deleting Threads doesn’t touch Instagram. If the Instagram account itself is disabled, appeal that first. Deleting a Threads profile takes effect 30 days after the request, and you need to be able to log in to do it.
Check Account Status
- Menu (top right) → Account Status: removed posts, content that can’t be recommended, and feature limits.
- The violation notification explains why something was removed.
- Help → Support requests → Violations shows the status of each review.
Ask for a review
- Tap Ask for a review at the bottom of the violation notice and follow the steps.
- Or request it from Account Status or Support requests.
- Keep it factual: what the post meant and why it fits the rules.
Threads and Instagram are linked
- Deleting your Instagram account also deletes your Threads profile.
- Deleting or deactivating Threads doesn’t delete or deactivate Instagram.
- Deactivating Threads hides your posts and interactions until you reactivate.
- Deleting Threads becomes permanent 30 days after the request; you must be logged in to request it.
If Instagram is disabled or hacked
Fix the Instagram account first — that’s where the login lives: disabled Instagram, hacked Instagram. If unauthorized posts appeared on Threads, secure Instagram, then delete them and review sessions.
