Short answer
It depends on the platform and the situation. Apple confirms an account recovery request within 72 hours and restores access after several days or longer. A closed Microsoft account can be reopened within the 30 or 60 days you chose. Facebook and Instagram deletions can be cancelled within 30 days; Pinterest gives 7 days. TikTok’s “More help” form can take up to 30 days, a YouTube monetization appeal gets a reply within 14 days, and Google publishes no fixed period for deleted accounts, so act quickly. The table below lists each window with its official source.
Waiting times at a glance
| Platform and situation | Time limit or wait | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Account — account recovery | Confirmation within 72 hours; access after several days or longer | Apple Support can’t shorten it; keep other signed-in devices off |
| Google Account — deleted | No fixed period published; only recently deleted accounts | Start recovery straight away |
| Google Account — inactive | Can be deleted after 2 years without use | Sign in at least once every 2 years |
| Microsoft account — closed | Reopen within the 30 or 60 days you chose | After that it is permanently deleted |
| Microsoft account — inactive | May be deleted after more than 2 years without sign-in | A deleted account can’t be reopened |
| Facebook — deleted profile | Cancel within 30 days; removing posts can take up to 90 days | After 30 days it can’t be retrieved |
| Instagram — deleted account | Cancel within 30 days | Log in to cancel before the window ends |
| Threads — deleted profile | Permanent 30 days after the request | Deleting Instagram deletes Threads too |
| WhatsApp — deactivated after a lost phone | Messages wait up to 30 days; account deleted after 30 days | Re-register within 30 days to keep your groups |
| TikTok — lost sign-up email (“More help” form) | Up to 30 days | Send one complete request |
| YouTube — monetization (YPP) appeal | Reply within 14 days; reapply 90 days after suspension | Appeal within 21 days of the suspension |
| Twitch — suspension | 24 hours to 30 days; reinstatement request after 6 months for accumulated violations | Most low-severity violations expire after 90 days |
| Pinterest — account you closed | Reactivate within 7 days | After 7 days the account and data are deleted |
“No fixed period published” means the platform doesn’t give a number — not that you have unlimited time.
Why the waits exist
- Waiting periods protect you: someone who has stolen your email or phone can’t take the account the same day.
- Most requests are reviewed automatically; a second request usually goes to the back of the queue.
- Deletion windows are a last chance to change your mind — after them the data is gone.
Make the wait count
- Send one complete request, with the same email and phone number each time.
- Secure the email account first — every reset goes there.
- Keep screenshots of notices and confirmation emails with their dates.
- On Apple, keep other signed-in devices off until recovery ends.
- Put the deadline in your calendar: deletion windows don’t pause.
Waiting times vs appeal deadlines
A waiting time is how long the platform takes; an appeal deadline is how long you have to act on a ban or suspension. For deadlines see appeal deadlines by platform; for the official forms see official recovery links.
Beware of “speed-up” offers
Apple says its own Support can’t shorten account recovery — nobody else can either. Anyone selling a faster recovery, a “priority ticket” or an insider contact is running a scam: account recovery scams. Our hacked account recovery service works only through official channels.
