Short answer
If YouTube suspends your channel from the YouTube Partner Program, appeal within 21 days of the suspension in YouTube Studio → Earn → Start appeal (or within 7 days before a scheduled suspension). You can send a short video appeal — under 5 minutes, unlisted, newly uploaded to the channel, with the channel URL in the first 30 seconds — or, where offered, go through Creator Support. YouTube says it responds within 14 days; if it upholds the suspension, you can reapply 90 days after the suspension date. The usual causes are reused or inauthentic (mass-produced, repetitive) content, judged across the whole channel.
Why channels lose monetization
- Reused content: other people’s material without significant original commentary, editing or value — the policy applies to the channel as a whole, and even with permission from the original creator.
- Inauthentic content: repetitive or mass-produced videos (YouTube renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” in July 2025).
- Other monetization policies, Community Guidelines strikes and copyright issues can also lead to suspension.
Appeal deadlines
- Already suspended: appeal within 21 days.
- Scheduled suspension notice: you have 7 days before the date; if that appeal is rejected you can’t appeal again.
- Rejected: reapply 90 days after the suspension date. Successful: YouTube says it re-admits within 30 days.
How to make the video appeal
- Under 5 minutes, unlisted, a new upload to the channel being appealed.
- Put the channel URL in the first 30 seconds.
- Address the policy named in the email and show your process — filming, scripting, editing, narration — across the channel, not just one video.
- Submit the URL in YouTube Studio → Earn → Start appeal.
Fix the channel before you appeal
- Remove or privatise videos that are clearly reused or templated.
- Add genuine commentary, editing and narration — transformation is what YouTube looks for.
- Check for strikes and copyright claims: copyright strike.
Terminated rather than demonetized?
A channel termination is a different, stricter process with its own one-year appeal window: terminated YouTube channel and appeal deadlines. Our YouTube channel recovery service prepares appeals through official channels.
