Short answer
Your enforcement email and the Appeals Portal show the violation, the length of the suspension and when it expires. Twitch says chat and streaming suspensions last from 24 hours to 30 days. Most low-severity violations expire after 90 days, higher-severity ones after 1 or 2 years, and the most severe harms lead to an immediate indefinite suspension that doesn’t expire. If you were indefinitely suspended for accumulated violations, you can apply for reinstatement after 6 months. If you think the enforcement was a mistake, appeal in the Appeals Portal.
Read the enforcement first
- The email and the Appeals Portal name the policy, the length and the expiry date.
- Check whether it is a chat or streaming suspension, or an indefinite one.
- Repeat violations of the same kind within the expiry window lead to longer suspensions.
How long violations stay on your account
- Most low-severity violations: 90 days.
- Higher-severity violations (for example hateful conduct): 1 or 2 years.
- The most severe harms: immediate indefinite suspension, and they don’t expire.
How to appeal
- Sign in and open the Appeals Portal (linked from your enforcement email).
- Pick the enforcement you are appealing and check its date.
- Explain the context: what happened, why it wasn’t a violation or what Twitch missed — VOD timestamps help.
- Submit once and watch your email for the decision.
Indefinite suspensions and reinstatement
Twitch says accounts indefinitely suspended for accumulating violations can apply for reinstatement after 6 months. Suspensions for the most severe harms are not eligible. Creating a new account to stream during a suspension is ban evasion and makes things worse.
