Short answer
Start with the notification and the Page’s status screen: they say what was limited — reach, monetization, advertising, or the whole Page — and usually include a request review / disagree button. Use the route that matches: the in-app review for Community Standards and Page Policy decisions; Meta’s Page Policy appeals form if the Page was flagged for artificial distribution; the monetization appeal if earnings were switched off; Account Quality if advertising is restricted. After a review, some content decisions can go to the Oversight Board. If the Page was hacked, recover it first.
Why Pages get limited or removed
- Facebook Pages must follow both the Community Standards and the Facebook Page Policies.
- Typical triggers: impersonation, intellectual property reports, misleading or spam behaviour, and artificially boosting distribution.
- Restrictions can apply to one part — reach, monetization, ads — or to the whole Page.
Find out exactly what was restricted
- Open the notification and the Page’s status or quality screen in the professional dashboard or Meta Business Suite.
- Note the rule, the date and any deadline shown.
- Check whether it’s the Page, an admin’s personal profile or the ad account that’s restricted — each has its own route.
The right appeal route
- Content or Page decision: request a review from the notification or status screen.
- Flagged for artificial distribution: Meta’s Page Policy appeals form.
- Monetization off: the monetization appeal (Meta’s help says review time depends on many factors).
- Advertising restricted: request a review in Account Quality — see ad account disabled.
- After a review: some content decisions can be appealed to the Oversight Board, which only selects a limited number of cases.
If the Page was hacked
Restrictions often follow a takeover: the attacker posts scams or runs ads, and the Page gets flagged. Recover access first — hacked Facebook Page and Business Manager access — then appeal with the timeline of the hack.
Avoid repeat restrictions
- Post original content or content you have rights to; respond to IP reports rather than ignoring them.
- Don’t buy likes, followers or engagement.
- Keep at least two admins with two-factor authentication.
- Our Facebook recovery service prepares Page appeals through Meta’s official channels.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a Facebook Page appeal take?
It varies. Meta doesn’t publish a fixed time for Page reviews; monetization appeals depend on many factors.
Can I appeal to the Oversight Board?
Only after you’ve requested a review on Facebook, and the Board chooses a limited number of eligible cases.
My Page was removed while hacked. Can it come back?
Often, if you recover access and show the restriction came from the attacker’s activity. Appeal with dates and screenshots.
Will creating a new Page fix it?
Not if the restriction is on you as admin — and recreating removed content can make things worse. Appeal first.
