Facebook Page hacked: how to recover your business Page and remove the intruders

·3 min read·

Short answer

If you are still logged in and recently lost access to a Page you manage, use Facebook’s Page recovery form — Facebook says it aims to reply within a day, by email. If you can’t log in to your own profile, start at facebook.com/hacked on a device you have used before. Once you are back, remove unknown people from Page access and your business portfolio, check ad accounts and payment methods, and turn on two-factor authentication for every admin.

Signs the Page was taken over

  • You were removed from Page access, or your role was reduced.
  • The Page name, links or contact details changed.
  • Ads you didn’t create are running, sometimes on your card.
  • Posts or messages you didn’t send — often fake “policy violation” warnings to other pages.

Step 1: secure your own profile

Pages are run through people’s Facebook profiles, so a hacked Page usually means a hacked admin profile — yours or a colleague’s. Change the password, review where you are logged in, remove unknown devices and turn on two-factor authentication. If you can’t log in at all, follow facebook.com/hacked from a familiar device and network. Our hacked Facebook account guide covers this step in detail.

Step 2: the Page recovery form

  1. Logged in to your secured profile, open Facebook’s help page for recovering a hacked Page and submit the recovery form.
  2. Use the profile that had access before the takeover and describe when and how you lost it.
  3. Keep proof of ownership ready: business registration, a domain email, invoices for ads on the Page, earlier screenshots of Page settings.
  4. Watch your email — that is where Facebook replies.

Step 3: clean up after recovery

  • Remove every person and partner you don’t recognise from Page access and from your business portfolio.
  • Check ad accounts linked to the Page: unknown ads, payment methods and spending limits.
  • Check a connected Instagram account and any apps with Page permissions.
  • Make sure at least two trusted people have full control, each with two-factor authentication.

If the form doesn’t work

Page takeovers often run into a second problem: the attacker’s ads get the ad account or the Page restricted. Then the hacked-Page case and the restriction review have to be argued together — see ad account disabled. When the self-service routes stall, our Facebook account recovery service prepares the case through Meta’s official channels.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Facebook take to answer the Page recovery form?

Facebook says it aims to reply within a day, although some reviews take longer. Updates arrive by email.

I can’t log in to my personal profile. Can I still recover the Page?

Start with facebook.com/hacked to recover the profile; the Page recovery form requires being logged in.

The hacker ran ads on my card. What should I do?

Remove the card from the ad account, contact your bank to dispute the charges, and report the compromise to Meta.

Can the Page be recovered if all admins were removed?

Yes, that is what the recovery form is for — as long as you lost access recently and can show you managed the Page.

Give Page access to people, not shared logins. A shared password is how most business Pages are lost.
