Facebook Marketplace restricted: how to get your access back

·3 min read·

Short answer

Facebook limits or suspends Marketplace when listings break its Commerce Policies, and it warns you first when access is at risk. Open your profile, go to Profile status → Marketplace, see which listings were the problem and select Request review where it is offered — reviews are available for a limited time (Facebook names 180 days for rejected listings) and not for every rule. On a first violation you may be able to remove the warning. If your whole Facebook account is restricted, that is a separate review.

At risk, limited or suspended

  • At risk: a warning that further violations will cost you access.
  • Limited: some Marketplace features are restricted.
  • Suspended: you can’t buy or sell on Marketplace.

All three come from repeated breaches of the Commerce Policies — prohibited items, misleading listings, or behaviour that looks like spam.

How to request a review

  1. Go to your profile and open Profile status.
  2. Under the extra features, select Marketplace.
  3. Choose See what happened or See issue and select the listing.
  4. Select Request review. If Facebook finds it made a mistake, it restores the listing.

When there is no review button

  • More than 180 days have passed since the listing was rejected.
  • You already requested a review.
  • A review isn’t available for the rule that was broken.

For a first violation, depending on the rule, you may be able to remove the warning instead — the listings behind it stay removed.

Keep it from happening again

  • Read the Commerce Policies before listing anything unusual — animals, medicines, weapons and digital products are common problems.
  • Describe items accurately and use your own photos.
  • Don’t post many near-identical listings in a short time.
  • Don’t create a new profile to get around a suspension; that can put the whole account at risk.

If the whole account is affected

A Marketplace restriction is not an account restriction. If Facebook has disabled or restricted your profile itself, start with our disabled Facebook account guide; when a review fails on a case that looks wrong, our Facebook account recovery service prepares it through Meta’s official channels.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Marketplace suspension last?

Facebook doesn’t publish one length. Profile status shows what applies to you and whether a review is available.

Can I just open a new account to sell?

No. Creating accounts to get around a restriction breaks Facebook’s rules and can lead to wider restrictions.

My listing was rejected by mistake. What now?

Request a review from Profile status within the time limit; if Facebook agrees, the listing is restored.

Does a Marketplace restriction affect my Page or ads?

Not by itself. Ad restrictions and Page restrictions are separate and have their own reviews.

Fix every listing that triggered the warning before you request a review. A clean profile status is the strongest argument you have.
