Facebook ad account disabled: how to request a review and get advertising again

·3 min read·

Short answer

Open Business Support Home (Account Quality), see exactly which asset is restricted — the ad account, your personal profile, a Page or the business portfolio — and the policy named, then request a review if you think it is a mistake. Meta says reviews are usually completed in about 48 hours and the decision arrives by email. Fix the cause first: rejected ads, unpaid balances, a compromised login. Do not open new ad accounts to get around the restriction.

What actually got restricted

  • The ad account: you can’t run ads from it; other ad accounts may still work.
  • Your personal profile: you are restricted from advertising, so every ad account you manage stops.
  • A Page: ads that run from that Page stop.
  • The business portfolio: everything inside it is affected.

The restriction notice and Business Support Home show which one it is. The review has to be requested for the right asset.

Common reasons

  • Repeated ad rejections for the same policy.
  • Payment problems: a failed charge or an unpaid balance.
  • Signs the account was compromised — logins, ads or payment methods you don’t recognise.
  • Activity that looks like circumventing an earlier restriction.

How to request a review

  1. Go to Business Support Home and select the restricted asset.
  2. Read the reason and the policy, and fix what you can first — delete or edit the offending ads, settle the balance, secure your login.
  3. Choose Request review, follow the steps and complete any identity confirmation yourself.
  4. Wait for the email. Meta says reviews usually take about 48 hours, sometimes longer.

What not to do

  • Don’t create new ad accounts, profiles or businesses to keep advertising — Meta treats that as circumvention and it can make the restriction permanent.
  • Don’t buy or rent “agency accounts” or aged profiles from strangers.
  • Don’t send the same review again and again; fix the cause and then request it once.

When the review is rejected

A rejection on a correctly applied policy usually stands. When the decision looks wrong — a compromised login, a misread ad, a payment issue already resolved — the case needs documentation and the right channel. That is part of our Facebook account recovery work, together with Business Manager ownership cases.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an ad account review take?

Meta says reviews are typically completed in 48 hours, although some take longer. You are notified by email.

Can I just open a new ad account?

Not to get around a restriction. Meta treats that as circumvention, which can lead to permanent restrictions on you and your business.

My ad account was disabled after a hack. What first?

Secure your Facebook login and remove unknown admins and payment methods, then request the review and explain that the account was compromised.

Will my Page or Instagram be affected?

It depends on what was restricted. A restriction on your personal profile affects every ad account you manage; an ad account restriction does not close your Page.

Fix the cause before you request the review, and request it once. A clean, single review is the fastest route back to advertising.
