Short answer
Signs of a hacked Spotify account: your email address changed, playlists added or lost, or music playing that you didn’t start. If you can still log in, reset your password — Spotify suggests doing it in a private or incognito window — and pick one you haven’t used before; change the passwords of linked services such as your email and Facebook too. Then choose Sign out everywhere on your account page (it can take up to 1 hour) and remove access for connected apps. Locked out? Contact Spotify through its contact form, with proof of ownership such as a receipt or bank statement screenshot (hide the full card number).
Signs of a hacked account
- The email address on the account has changed.

If you can still log in
- Reset your password in a private or incognito window, using a password you haven’t used before.
- Change the passwords of linked services — email, Facebook or Apple.

- Manage apps: remove access for connected apps, then reconnect only the ones you use; disconnect a linked Facebook account in the desktop app’s settings.
If you can’t log in
Contact Spotify through its contact form. Have proof of ownership ready: a screenshot of a Spotify receipt or a bank statement showing the charge — hide the full card number, expiry date and security code.
Lost playlists
Spotify lets you recover playlists deleted within the last 90 days from your account page — useful if an intruder deleted them.
Spot fake “Spotify” emails
Spotify says genuine emails come from addresses ending in @spotify.com. If you clicked a suspicious link, reset your password and, if card details may be exposed, contact your bank.
